How to Survive the Work Week

Got the Monday blues? Dragging your feet by Wednesday afternoon? Here are a few tips to help get you through the week.

How to Get Through the Work Week

While we can’t make your week pass any faster, we can give you a few tips to help keep you focused and to manage that not-so-fun feeling that time has decided to spite you by crawling. Check out the list below for a few ideas.

  • Sleep! A good day (and week) starts the night before. Getting a good night’s sleep can make a huge difference–imagine not being tired on Monday morning! Sometimes falling asleep and waking up can be difficult, but here’s something that might help: going to bed and waking up at the same time daily can work wonders for your ability to fall asleep and wake up. Give it a try and see what it does for you (weekends, too).
  • Go for a Walk: Stepping outside of your workplace for even a few minutes can help you clear your mind and focus when you get back. Taking a quick walk can help you decompress both mentally and physically from spending hours behind a desk.
  • Take Breaks: It’s your right as a worker to take a break for every four hours worked. Fifteen minutes of those four hours are allotted for a break–take advantage of this and get away from your workstation.
  • Frontload your Week: If you’re able, make the first days in your week the longest. When Fridays get shorter, they pass more quickly and make the weekend seem longer.
  • Get Comfy: Whether it’s lumbar support at your desk or your favorite pair of socks, having little things that make you feel more comfortable at work can go miles on a long day. Customizing your workspace and keeping it organized will help it feel more personal and keep things flowing smoothly.
  • Get Movin’! Exercise cures many ails. It can help you sleep better, give you more energy, and help you focus. Being able to engage with your work can help it pass faster, and when you hit the slump in the middle of the week being engaged in what you’re doing can work wonders.
