The BMW 5 Series is one of the core vehicles in the BMW lineup. This midsize sedan is known for its clean, classic looks and its dynamic handling – it’s a true driver’s car. The 5 Series cars are also known for their advanced technology offerings, even more so than other luxury cars. Step into an older model, and you’ll find it surprisingly ahead of its time.

The 5 Series comes in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive varieties. The engine options have changed and grown more powerful over the years. Since 2012, the 5 Series lineup has included:

The BMW 6 Series is the next step up, sportier than the 5 Series. Overall, it’s about the same size as the 5 Series, but its stance is more athletic, wider and lower to the ground. The strikingly beautiful 6 Series lineup includes two-door coupe and soft-top convertible styles. Since 2013, there’s also a four-door Gran Coupe style with a roomier backseat.

Like the 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series comes in rear-wheel drive or AWD versions. Throughout its history, it’s been a powerful performer, sporting a wide variety of 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines. The current-generation lineup, introduced in 2012, includes:

So, which one is right for you? While they’re both incredibly fun to drive, the 6 Series’ impressive looks are a big draw. The 6 Series is also great for any driver looking for an open-road-ready convertible. If you’re interested in feeling the difference yourself, you’re invited to schedule a test drive!
